Pastor  Shirley A.  Stewart-Tibbs

The 2nd oldest of five children, Pastor Shirley was born in Bitburg, Germany to Edward Lincoln Stewart and Alma Pearl Crawford both deceased. Her early childhood was spent in Hampton, VA where she attended public schools.     Elder Stewart-Tibbs received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Norfolk State College and received a Master of Science in Biology from Hampton Institute. Pastor Stewart-Tibbs received Christ at Macedonia Baptist Church in Newport News, Va under the pastorate of the late Reverend Alfred Terrell. While at Macedonia she served on the Usher Board. Serving as a doorkeeper in God’s house proved to be very rewarding and a turning point in Elder Stewart-Tibbs’ life as she desired to do more and be more for God. She served as a tutor for at risk youth. While students were on suspension they came to the church and were tutored so they would not be behind when their suspension was up.  Elder Stewart-Tibbs relocated to Northern Virginia and attended Greater Little Zion Baptist Church in Burke, VA under Reverend Roots. She was a missionary, and a three (3) time Northern Virginia Central Union Spelling Bee champion.

Elder Stewart-Tibbs moved to Maryland and attended The Lord’s Church and Christian Center under the pastorate of Bishop Grant B. Williams, Jr. Bishop Williams took Sister Stewart under his tutelage and gave her increasing ministry responsibilities.  While at The Lord’s Church and Christian Center-Sister Stewart received her call into the ministry. After much prayer and conversation with Bishop Williams, Sister Stewart was given assignments to make sure her calling. Bishop Williams licensed and ordained Pastor Shirley at The Lord’s Church and Christian Center in Clinton, MD. Under Bishop Williams’ guidance, Elder Stewart held many offices within the church: she taught Sunday School and Bible Study, she was the Financial Secretary, the Superintendent of Sunday School, Senior Associate Minister, Assistant Pastor and was installed as Pastor of The Lord’s Church of Salvation and Praise in January 2008. Pastor Stewart-Tibbs is grateful to God for the men and women of God that have been placed in her life to assist her along this spiritual journey.  Pastor Shirley is married to Norman Monroe Tibbs and they reside in Temple Hills, MD. She is the too blessed to be stressed mother of two adult daughters: LaTricia Davenport (Robert) and Shardae Nicole Floyd. Pastor Shirley has four beautiful goodly and Godly grandchildren: Makaila, Robert III., Solon and Nyla. To whom much is given much is required!! One of Pastor Shirley’s favorite scriptures is Philippians 2:13 “ I count not myself to have already apprehended, but this one thing I do; forgetting those things that are behind me I press toward the mark for the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Pastor Shirley and 1st Gentleman Norman believe that the best is yet to come!!! / / 240.997.4456
